Sodium citrate

 

When fresh blood is collected clinically, sterilized sodium citrate is added to prevent blood coagulation, so sodium citrate is known as an anticoagulant.

 

In the food and beverage industry, it is used as a flavoring agent and stabilizer. In the pharmaceutical industry, it is used as an anticoagulant, expectorant, and diuretic. In the detergent industry, it can replace sodium tripolyphosphate as an additive for non-toxic detergents.

 

It is also used in brewing, injection solutions, photographic chemicals, electroplating, etc. It is one of the basic reagents for biological experiments.
